How to download a video from Twitter (X)

  1. On X, open the post with the video, tap the Share icon, then Copy link.

  2. Paste the link in the field above. It starts on its own, or select Get download links.

  3. Choose a quality and select Download MP4. The video saves to your device.

Every quality X offers

We list every MP4 version of the video that X provides, usually from 270p up to 720p or 1080p, with the file size, so you choose between sharpness and space.

No pop-ups, no account

No sign-up, no X login, no app, and no pop-up ads or redirects. Paste, download, done, on iPhone, Android, Windows or Mac.

Where your video is saved

The steps are the same on every device. Only the place where the file lands changes:

  • iPhone and iPad: in the Files app, under Downloads. To move it to Photos, follow our iPhone guide.
  • Android: in the Downloads folder. Most gallery apps show it right away.
  • Windows, Mac and Linux: in your browser’s Downloads folder.

Which links work?

Copy the link from the Share menu of the post. MP4fromX accepts:

  • x.com and twitter.com links, such as https://x.com/user/status/1234567890, from the app or the website,
  • mobile links (mobile.twitter.com),
  • links from fxtwitter, vxtwitter or fixupx, the ones that make embeds work in Discord and Telegram.

If a post has several videos, each one gets its own download buttons. Live broadcasts and Spaces are not supported.

Why a video might not download

Most failures have a simple cause:

  • The post is from a private (protected) account, or it was deleted: only public posts can be saved.
  • X shows some posts only to signed-in users, for example some sensitive media. We never ask for your X login, so those cannot be fetched.
  • The post has no video: it contains only photos, or a link to another site.
  • Download links expire after 15 minutes: if a button stops working, paste the link again.

Video quality and file format

X stores each video in several versions. We show all of them as MP4 files (H.264 video with AAC sound), which play on every phone, computer and TV. The best one is usually 720p or 1080p, depending on what was uploaded. There is no watermark: X does not add one to videos.

Need a GIF or just the sound? Use our GIF downloader or the Twitter to MP3 converter.

Download responsibly

Videos on X belong to the people who posted them. Save them for personal use, ask before reposting, and credit the creator when you share their work.
